NELLIE FEDORCHUK (SKIBA) (nee SMIKLES) Mom passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the age of 84 at Concordia Hospital with her family by her side. Mom was born April 9, 1923 at Rembrandt, MB. She was predeceased by her first husband Joe Skiba in 1975 and her second husband Bill Fedorchuk in 2001, her parents Klym and Bella Smikles and sister Annie Mainland. Mom will be dearly missed by her children Martin (Lynne) Skiba, Carol (Stan) Wiseman, Lena (John) Polychuk, Elizabeth (Bob) Taraschuk; stepchildren Ronald, Ken (Jan), Dennis, Stephen (Heather), Christine (Andre) and Pearl (Maurice); her grandchildren Tracy (Richard) Kieper and their children Matthew and Alexander; Shelly Wiseman, Grant Wiseman, Lee Ann Polychuk (Steve), Theresa Polychuk (Justin), Robert Taraschuk (Simone), Renee (Marty) Cook; step-grandchildren Christy (Barry), Ginette (Robert), Aaron, Brent, Derek (Jascen) and Renee; step-great-grandchildren Colten, Tiffany and Zachary; sister Myrna Ewaschuk and brother Steve Smikles and many nieces and nephews. Mom and dad farmed in Meleb on the family farm until his passing in 1975. Mom worked at the Gimli Hospital and later married Bill Fedorchuk and lived in Gimli until 2006. When her health failed she then lived with her daughter Lena until her passing. Mom loved to cook, knit, play scrabble and do crossword puzzles, scratch tickets and play some Caw Ching (aka Lucky Larry). She loved to sit on her deck and admire her flowers and watch the world go by. She never turned anyone away from her home and was kind and generous to everyone. Mom was very active in fundraising with her knitting and bake sales for the Gimli Healing Gardens Adult Daycare. Thank you to Pat and staff on the second floor at Concordia Hospital for their special care and concern. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, 58 North 5th Ave., Gimli. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 22 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church with Fr. Harry Chuckry officiating. Interment will follow in the Park Cemetery, Meleb. Pallbearers will be Grant Wiseman, Bob and Robert Taraschuk, Theresa Polychuk, Ken and Stephen Fedorchuk. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Gimli Healing Gardens or the Colitis Foundation. Mom rest in peace, we love you. Vichnaya Pam'yat Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
