HANNELORE KAESTNER (nee FELS) July 18, 1920 - November 19, 2007 In the arms of her family that she loved and cherished, Hannelore Marianne Kaestner passed away peacefully at Donwood Manor on November 19, 2007. Hannelore will be lovingly remembered by her devoted son Mattias (Carol), granddaughter Debee (Joe) Brickner; great-grandson Dallas Wesley, great-granddaughter Madison Wesley; sister Renata (Alex) Nolius; nieces Barbara (Lewis) Friesen and family, and Debbie (Mark) Piccinin and family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gerhart in 1990. Hannelore was born in 1920 in Landeshut Selasia. She was married to Gerhart, the love of her life, in 1941. Their only child, Mattias was welcomed into their lives in 1942. Hannelore moved her family to Winnipeg in 1956. Hannelore had many passions. Her passion for animals was evident. She was actively involved in the ladies auxiliary at the Winnipeg Humane Society. She looked after many dogs, while their owners went on vacation. Many of them returned year after year. Animals loved her as much as she loved them. Hannelore and Gerhart also loved to travel, especially to Hawaii. She enjoyed attending the symphony for many years. She loved meeting new people and in turn, they enjoyed getting to know her. The family would like to thank the staff at Donwood Manor for their kindness, care and support, especially during the last few days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow.
