CHARLES DAVID SMITH Peacefully on December 5, 2007 at the Seven Oaks Hospital Charlie Smith passed away at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his wife Isabell of 62 years, his children, Corrine (Wally), Lorea, Jo-Anne Michele, and Lenore; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, siblings, Marion (Ed) and Margaret. He was predeceased by his daughter Ellen in 1969 and his sister Kay. Charlie was born on December 7, 1916 in Holmfield, Manitoba and spent his first 13 years in Celone, Saskatchewan. He returned to Manitoba where he remained the rest of his life and there he married his wife Isabell on September 20, 1945. Charlie served as a Radar Technician on mine sweepers in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War from August 17, 1941 - October 16, 1945. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 141 for 62 years, the Army, Navy, Air Force Branch #1 and was a life member of the Victoria Curling Club. He retired from ICI in 1976, and spent the next 20 years driving the Masons Care Car for CancerCare Manitoba. He enjoyed long walks in the neighborhood and feeding cookies to every dog he met. The family would like to thank his girls from Home Care and the staff of the 5th floor Unit 6, Dr. David Ross and Ruth from KMC.
