Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALPHONSINE CYRENNE (nee CARIGNAN) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (memere), in the early morning of December 8, 2007 at the age of 92 at the Selkirk District General Hospital into the arms of her saviour the Lord Jesus. Alphonsine was predeceased by her husband Edouard in 1998, sisters Cecile Duclos, Annette Duclos, and Irene Beaudry. She will be forever loved and remembered by her children Ronald (Donna), Guy (Sylvia), Gisele (Romeo), ten grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, a brother André Carignan, her sister Florence (Marcel) Valois, sister-in-law Cecile Painchaud, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Alphonsine was born in La Salle, MB on January 3, 1915. Later in 1931 she moved with her parents, Alphonse and Alma Carignan to St. Eustache. She married in 1937 and farmed in Fannystelle until 1966. After an unfortunate fire perished their home in town they retired and moved to Winnipeg. She very much missed the country way of life, and would enjoy going out picking for berries and anyone willing. She was a hard worker and loved every aspect of gardening, enjoying cooking, baking and canning. In addition to being an avid gardener mom was excellent at mending and sewing and especially talented at knitting. She helped keep MANY little fingers and toes warm in knitted mittens and slippers. Mom was always grateful for, and delighted in the opportunity to visit and play cards with family and friends. But, she mostly enjoyed reminiscing of times past. She will be greatly missed. Special thanks to the staff at the Taché and Betel Nursing Homes for the care and attention shown to her, as well as the nurses and doctor at the hospital while in their care. A celebration of Alphonsine's life will take place Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Fannystelle, with prayers starting at 10:30 a.m. with mass to follow. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to the Arthritis Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice. A la douce mémoire, toujours bien-aimée Grant unto her eternal rest oh Lord! The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949 or 1-888-233-4949.
