EMIL (MILC) MOHORIC April 17, 1929 - December 25, 2007 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Milc, (Tata), after a brief battle with cancer. He passed away at Riverview Health Centre at 78 years of age. Milc is survived by Vladimira (Vladka), his wife of 46 years, and his children Emil (Yvonne), Lydia (Richard) and Anita (Wayne). Tata will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Shannon, Nicole, Erin, Roman and Natasha. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Ivanka, Milena, brother Franc in Italy and many extended family and friends in Slovenija, the US and Canada. Milc, was born in Spodnja Idrija, Slovenija where he spent the first 16 years of his life before post-war circumstances forced him and his family to flee to Italy. He spent five years as a refugee in Italy before immigrating to Canada in 1950. After settling in Winnipeg in 1951, he worked at Maple Leaf Mills for 35 years. In 1961 he married his beloved wife Vladka and eventually settled in North Kildonan where they raised their three children. He was deeply involved in the Slovenian community and was one of the founding members of the Slovenian Club of Manitoba. Milc helped to build Our Lady of Lourdes Slovenian Roman Catholic Church, which he attended regularly. He loved spending time playing Bocci with his friends and grandchildren as well as making wine, roasting a pig, home renovations or falling asleep on a rock at Barren Lake. Milc was generous with his time, always lending a helping hand to those who asked. He loved his family more than anything else and especially cherished the time he could spend with his grandchildren (and Charlie). Viewing will be held on Saturday, December 29 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Slovenian Roman Catholic Church, 95 MacDonald Avenue with Rev. Father Stan Gacek presiding. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Stan Vrsnik, Stan Matjasic, Frank Jasnic, Phil Vrsnik, Wayne Copet and Richard Iwuc. Honourary Pallbearers are Slavko Slejko and Andrej Kostanjevic. Our thanks go out to the staff of St. Boniface General Hospital, 6A Medicine, and to family and friends who visited Milc in the hospital - he mentioned several times how he enjoyed your company. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Emil's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
