Date of Passing: Dec 26, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUDY LOUISE STOREY March 27, 1946 - December 26, 2007 Suddenly on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, Judy Storey, aged 61 years, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. She is survived by her beloved husband Keith; children, Kerrith and Lindsay (Doug); granddaughter Laurren; sister Joyce (Ed) and family as well as several cousins. Judy attended the University of Manitoba and graduated in Home Economics. While there she joined the Alpha Delta Pi sorority where she made many lifelong friends. On December 26, 1969, 38 years ago to the day, Judy and Keith married and started out on their partnership. Initially they resided in Montreal and Toronto but returned to Winnipeg in 1971 and started their family. While Judy was a believer in being home and available to the children (which she always was) she nonetheless took on a great variety of contract and part time work to, as she would say, keep her hand in and stay busy. What she took on both work wise and as a volunteer you could be certain would be done right and on time. After the girls were into their teens she was recruited, somewhat reluctantly, into the Marketing Branch of the Department of Agriculture where she continued until the time of her death. As a part of that job she took on a role on Saturday morning CBC radio where for 18 years she was heard promoting Manitoba food products. It was a small part of her job but it was surely one that caused her to be known throughout the province. Oh, you're that Judy Storey was a frequently heard remark. Judy was never happier than when surrounded by friends and family, particularly if she could be in the kitchen! And, of course, her children and granddaughter, Laurren, were the centre of her universe. She was so thrilled to learn very recently that the family would be expanding. Keith and Judy had the good fortune to travel quite a bit in more recent years and the discussions about those trips provided so many happy hours. She was so fond of saying you have to travel to eat . What was your favourite meal? came before what was your favourite sight? ! Her family believes she is now on a journey that she had planned and looked forward to and we sense her presence as we bid her adieu. Until we meet again. Funeral service 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road, the Reverend Dr. Gordon N. Taylor officiating.
