Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA (OLLIE) LOEWEN After a massive stroke, Olga peacefully passed away on January 2, 2008 surrounded by her children, Clayton, Perry, Curtis and Donna. She will be greatly missed by her grand-children, Emily, Krista, Brianne, Ryan, Jordan, Nathan and Andrew. Her daughters-in-law, Betty and Valeda and son-in-law Bill Murdoch were also very important to Ollie. Olga's husband of almost 27 years, Frelan Loewen, died in July of 1984. Olga (nee Picyk) grew up on a farm in Swan River, Manitoba where her parents settled after emigrating from the Ukraine in approximately 1929. She is survived by her brothers Nick, Bill and Peter and her sisters Nellie Cameron and Lillian Kuzmick. After high school Ollie obtained her teaching certificate and taught for over 25 years. Ollie especially loved working with kindergarten children. She remained fit and active throughout her life. In high school she competed in the Provincial High School Championships as a sprinter. She was a lifeguard for many years. Her children fondly remember summer vacations with mom and dad, traveling throughout Canada and the United States. After Frelan's death, Olga started her international travels. She was proud of the fact that she had visited every continent. Ollie's faith in God was very important to her. She was a member of Home Street Mennonite Church for over 40 years. She volunteered both her time and money to God's work. She is now with her Heavenly Father. Ollie deeply loved her family and gave generously to them during her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Home Street Mennonite Church, 318 Home Street, with interment following in Mennonite Memorial Gardens. Viewing Sunday, January 6 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, and at the church prior to the service.
