EDNA SCHMIDT (nee SCHWARTZ) 1918 - 2008 In loving memory of our mother who passed away January 8, 2008. Mom was a quiet person but one who loved having a good time and didn't mind a little mischief as well. She was the third youngest child in a family of eight children. With a large family and even larger family of nieces and nephews, Mom loved the big family get-togethers we used to have in the good old days. Always the centre of teasing, some crazy things were certain to happen to Mom Mom was a modern woman who managed to balance work and home life. She worked for Eaton's mail order and later for Dairy Dell Ice Cream Store where I (Jo-Ann) received many a cone as a bribe for silence in the back room. Mom later worked in another Ice Cream Store on Main Street and then Eaton's Eat and Run in the basement of the downtown store and then the Snack Bar. If you worked downtown chances are our mom served you a hotdog and a drink. Edna was predeceased by her husband David (Smitty) Schmidt. She will be sadly missed by her three children, Ron Schmidt, Diane Soroskie (John) and Jo-Ann Schmidt (Bill Lutz); her grand-children Brandy Botham (Al), Cherise Wilk (Trevor), Tia-Maria Hoeller, Shalee Ladell (Glen) and Kelli Wilson (Leo Stockburn); also three other grandchildren, Laurie, Kevin and Robert and 21 great-grandchildren. Grammy will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by one brother Adam and wife Lil who live in Brandon, Manitoba and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
