VICTORIA MAY DECKER (nee PLASTER) May 24, 1921 - February 7, 2008 Our dear mother Victoria May (Vickie) Decker passed away on Thursday, February 7th at Grace Hospital at the age of 86 following a stroke. She was predeceased by her husband Morley, son Bruce, and three brothers and youngest sister. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Donna Borsa (Jack) of Gimli, Manitoba and her son Robert Decker (Marie) of Oakville, Ontario; grandchildren Warren Borsa (Jillian) of Winnipeg, Leah Winsor (Brent) of Ottawa, Greg Decker of Toronto, and Mari Decker (husband Andrew Pickup) of Calgary; great- granddaughter Danica Borsa, and three sisters: Ida Blair (of Lanigan, Sask.), Grace Strong (of Drake, Sask.) and Connie Nelson (of London, Ont.), as well as many nieces and nephews. Vickie was primarily a great homemaker, but she also spent many years as a real estate salesperson with Canada Permanent and Canada Trust in Winnipeg. She was a member of Circle 9 of the United Church Women of St. James United Church, and is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her friends there. She was a kind, loving person who kept in touch with family and friends. Vickie spent countless hours talking on the telephone with her children, her sisters, and numerous friends, nieces and nephews. She was very proud and fond of her one great-granddaughter Danica Borsa. She enjoyed immensely a family reunion in Saskatchewan in 2003 and a lifelong friendship with Frank and Fern Fulton and their son Ken. Visitors and family were welcomed with open arms and a ready place to stay. She cared for her mother Kate Plaster in old age, her youngest sister Ella in a time of illness, and her husband Morley's twin sister Mabel late in life. Vickie was in good health for most of her life (as well as late in life) and had a warmth and strength of character developed in the rural farm community of Lockwood, Sask., where she was born on May 24, 1921 (Victoria Day). Heartfelt thanks go to the staff at Grace Hospital (both in Emergency Care and in 5 North) for their compassionate care of Vickie and her family, following Vickie's stroke in late January. A memorial service and reception to celebrate Vickie's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, R3K 1W3 (204) 885 9715. Should family or friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Vickie to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Grace Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
