LYLE KEITH BULLOCH March 10, 1920 to February 12, 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lyle, surrounded by his family, after 87 years of a long and fulfilling life. He passed away at the Grace Hospital after suffering a severe stroke. Lyle is survived by his loving wife Eunice; his sons, Keith and Terry (Laurie); grandchildren, Randy, David and Michelle; great-granddaughter Emma; special family members, Joanne Bulloch, and Sandra and Ivan Donald; many nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Edith; siblings, Harold, Beatrice, Gladys, Cecil and Stan; sister-in-law Ethel; daughter-in-law Anita, and grandson Danny. Lyle was born and raised in Reston. He met the love of his life, Eunice, when he was 17, and they were married October 8, 1939. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment in 1939, and proudly served his country during the Second World War. He was a radio operator in the Dieppe Raid in France, and sacrificed three years of his life in a German P.O.W. camp. After the war, Lyle came home to his wife and son Keith, and they made their home in River Heights. Some years later their youngest son Terry was born, and a short time thereafter they moved to Charleswood, where they were proud residents for over 50 years. Lyle retired from the Canada Post Office in 1976 after 31 years of service, and enjoyed his retirement years to the fullest. He was a loyal member of the Charleswood Legion since its inception, and had many dear friends there with whom he loved to shoot the breeze . Lyle and Eunice travelled extensively during his retirement. Among his favourite trips were those to the Dieppe reunions in France, and their many winter escapes with family and friends to Puerto Vallarta. Lyle was an avid reader and loved to solve crossword puzzles. Most importantly, Lyle loved his family and was very proud of them. We in turn loved him and will miss him dearly. The family wishes to thank the staff of Ward 501 at the Grace Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Private interment will follow at a later date. A celebration of Lyle's life will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., followed by a gathering of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in dad's memory to the charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am a high school friend of Terry's and would like to pass my condolences to him and his family. My parents were also longtime Charlewood residents and veterans. My younger brother Ken sent me the notice of Terry's Dad's passing. Terry's parents were great and I remember many good times at his place listening to music and enjoying ourselves. Terry/Laurie drop me a line and let me know how things are. Take care. - Posted by: Barry Kowalsky (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2008
