WINNIFRED (WINNIE) GRACE TURKITCH (KOLMATISKI)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINNIFRED (WINNIE) GRACE TURKITCH (nee KOLMATISKI) 1930 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Winnie on February 16, 2008 at the age of 78, beloved wife of the late Bill Turkitch, with her children by her side at St. Boniface Hospital. Winnie leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memory her children, Linda (Paul) Paradis, Judy (Emile) Chartier, and Allan Turkitch; grandchildren, Ryan and Aimee Paradis, and Mitchell (Dayle) and Karen Chartier; great-grandson Jecht Chartier. She will also be missed by her sisters, Elsie Huminiuk and Evelyn Kulikowski; brothers, Jimmy (Edith) Colmer and Oliver (Bernice) Kolmatiski; sister-in-laws, Margaret Colmer, Vera Colmer, and Mary (Eric) Burrows of England; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other family members. Winnie was predeceased by her beloved husband, William (Bill) Turkitch; parents, Catherine and Michael Kolmatiski; brothers, Henry Colmer and William Colmer, and sister Joyce Borys. Mom was a person of great courage, independence, and strength, with a lifelong faith in God and a strong commitment and loving devotion to her home and family. She raised her three children alone after her husband, Bill became ill, and was faithfully caring and devoted to him throughout his 44 year long stay at Deer Lodge Centre until his passing in 2004. She was a beautiful person, both inside and out, and made a multitude of friends throughout her life. People were always drawn to her likable, friendly and outgoing personality. Mom was an avid walker throughout her entire life, and enjoyed socializing with her friends in Norwood. She had a tremendous sense of humour. We will greatly miss her. Pallbearers will be Ryan Paradis, Mitchell Chartier, Andrej Brasko, Myron Borys, Bill Bodman, and Douglas Bakuska. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Interment to follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
