STAN K. PLEWAK It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Stan K. Plewak on February 9, 2008 in Brandon General Hospital. Stan leaves to mourn his beloved wife Audrey; son Grant; daughters, Kim (Leonard) Cole and Donna (Darryle) Jonasson; granddaughters, Melissa and Chantel Cole; sisters, Mable Nakonechny, Margaret Sawicki and Lena Coad; sisters-in-law, Leona (Wayne) McNabb, Barb (Bill) Lawson, Pat Balak (Clarence); brothers-in-law, Ron (Adele) Balak, Leonard (Delores) Balak, many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Stan was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary; brothers, Walter, John, Joe, Phillip, Kaczmir, and sister Rose. Stan was born in the R.M. of Strathclair to Michael and Mary Plewak. He attended school in Elphinstone and furthered his education at Normal School Teachers College in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Stan was married to Audrey Balak in 1958 in Grandview, Manitoba. He taught in Morranville and at the Grandview Collegiate. Stan was employed for 23 years as Secretary Treasurer for the Intermountain School Division, then with Manitoba Housing for the last 18 years as general manager for the Parkland East area. He consistently performed with a high level of achievement and professionalism. He received honourable mention at the 2nd Annual Manitoba Service Excellence Awards held in Winnipeg on June 14, 2000. Stan was honoured for his 30 years of devotion to Parkland minor hockey through his coaching, executive level and refereeing. He spent many weekends traveling throughout the province to umpire for the Manitoba Baseball Association. He had great passion for his horses and took pride in showing them in the local parades. He loved his dogs and auction sales. Stan's unforgotten generosity touched the hearts of many people. Prayers were offered on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Viator's Roman Catholic Church in Dauphin, led by Jeff DiNella. Funeral service was held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Viator's Roman Catholic Church in Dauphin with Father Yolando Gamallo officiating. Mary Kay Scinocca served as organist with the St. Viator's Choir providing choral accompaniment. The eulogy was delivered by Delores Balak and Grant Plewak. Interment followed in the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ryan Balak, Tony Kalechyn, Michael Zarichny, Ed Boguski, Walter Dziver and Ron Nakonechny.
