REUBEN CECIL SANBURN It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Cecil Sanburn at Grace Hospital on Monday, February 18, 2008 at the age of 86. Cecil will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; daughters, Cathy (Craig) Schrader, Sharon (Stan) Haines and Sandra Harris; grandchildren, Corey, Robyn, Jeremy, Meredith and Breanne, great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kathelyn, Jillian, Tyson, Kaomi and Jaden. Cecil is also survived by his sister Mae Plaseski; sister-in-law Virginia Sanburn, and many nieces and nephews. Cecil was born in Dallas, MB to Reuben and Jean Sanburn and was one of eight children. He was raised in Portage la Prairie and left to serve in the Navy during the Second World War. He re-enlisted in the Air Force and served until 1972. He then worked for Winnipeg Regional Housing until his retirement in 1982. He had a full and interesting life raising his three daughters, travelling to visit friends and family with his wife Dorothy. He enjoyed curling at Deer Lodge and watching any sporting event on T.V. Cecil's greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play and grow. He was always there to lend support or advice as needed. Dad's idea of a good time was to sit in his gazebo, watch the birds and listen to his classical music. A memorial service will be held at St. James United Church, 234 Parkview Street, Winnipeg on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
