MARTHA LINK On Thursday, February 21, 2008, Mrs. Martha Link passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 86 years. Remaining to forever cherish Martha's memory are her daughter Chris Link-Muirhead, son-in-law Tim Muirhead and their two children, Stephen and Gwen. She was predeceased by her father (1922), mother (1960), husband Erwin Link (1978), her close friend Henry Stockmann and her beloved dog, Morley. Martha was born in Schoenberg, East Germany, on June 3, 1921, to Selma and Albert Glaeser. Mom and Dad were married in Germany in 1950. In 1953 they left Germany and arrived in Montreal and later moved to Winnipeg. Chris was born in 1958 at the Women's Pavilion. Both Mom and Dad worked hard all their lives. Mom worked as a nurse's aide first at St. Boniface General Hospital and then at the General Hospital (now Health Sciences Centre). Dad died in 1978 at the age of 60. Mom retired in 1983 and then shortly thereafter she and Henry moved to Kelowna. Mom spent 20 wonderful years in Kelowna, returning to Winnipeg in 2004 due to failing health. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at St. Boniface General Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre for the care she received over the last few months. Also, heartfelt thanks to friends who were there for her when she needed them. In compliance with Martha's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held and a private family service will take place. Interment will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. If anyone wishes to remember Martha's memory, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
