FRANCESCO DEROSA November 23, 1922 - February 20, 2008 How do you say good-bye to your partner, your mentor, hero and strength. . . With his family by his side, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, quietly left this mortal life to be embraced by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Francesco (fondly known as Franchino to those that knew and loved him) was a special man who's straight forward, quiet manner and knowing look spoke volumes. He instilled in his children the love of God, importance of family and the value of an honest day's work. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife of 66 years, Maria and in sharing a cup of espresso with his family and friends. Franchino was born in Malito, Cosenza, Italy to Vincenzo and Luigina DeRosa. In 1953 he immigrated to Canada in search of a better life for his family. His wife and children followed shortly thereafter in 1956. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Maria, children Luigina (Carmine), Vincenzo (Raffelina), Rosina (Domenico); grandchildren, Giovanni (Sina), Maria, Frank (Tracy), Frank (Nella), Anna (Jason), Carmine (Afton), Tony and Frank. He also left eight great-grandchildren. Brother Guido, sisters Emma (Joe), Maria (Mario); in-laws Emma, Antonio (Angela), Raffaele, Frank (Mary), Piera (Frank); and numerous nieces and nephews. Welcoming him with open arms are his parents, his sister Rosina, brother Giovanni, Giuseppe, and Raffaele and god son and special nephew Vincenzo; sister-in-laws Rosina, Antonietta and Nina and brother-in-law Peter. Pallbearers are Franchino's grandsons, Giovanni Fiorillo, Frank Fiorillo, Frank DeRosa, Carmine Fiorillo, Tony Fiorillo and Frank Fiorillo. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters Maria DeRosa and Anna Cianflone. Prayers will be said on Monday, February 25th, at 7:30 p.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 26th, at 10:00 a.m., also in Holy Rosary Church with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding; entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, especially Karen, our angel from Wisconsin, and Nicole for their compassion during this difficult time. For God so loved the world that he sent His only begotten Son; that whosoever believes in Him should not perish (in hell) but have everlasting life (in Heaven) John 3:16. A Dio Papa. Ti volgliamo tanto bene. Non ci dimenticamo mai.
