Born May 21, 1925, in Sao Miguel Açores, she arrived in Canada along with her husband and daughter Manuela in 1967. Although Canada became her new home, her heart always remained back in her homeland of Sao Miguel. It is there that she met her husband Artur, married and had her four children. Avo loved her music, especially her traditional Portuguese music. She enjoyed cooking and she always looked forward to doing so for her family. Her special qualities always shined through, her giving heart for others and her contagious laughter.
