IN MEMORIAM My parents had a traditional marriage: he was the head and she had the heart. They were married for 67 years, when her heart stopped. He was left alone with his thoughts. As children we inherited our parents' gifts. My older brother was his mother's son as he had her heart. I was my father's clever daughter. Lastly, Junior was born and received both gifts. I found my heart when I became a mother. I finally gained my balance. First I lost my mother, then my daughter and now my father. I go through the motions. My heart is not in it and I'm lost in negative thinking. I need to grow a new balance: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51)
