LEISA (BETTY) GERISH Leisa (Betty) Gerish, formerly Betty Morrison, nee Bargen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at the Carman Memorial Hospital. The was sun setting in the west as Leisa took her last breath on earth and her first breath in Heaven. She is survived by her two sons, Ron Morrison of Sparks, Nevada, and Gary Morrison of Elko, Nevada, one sister Mary (Meka) Kroeker of Winnipeg and one sister-in-law Mary Bargen of Carman, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank P. and Elizabeth (Liese) Bargen, and by her two brothers, Frank F. Bargen and Peter Bargen. Born in the Ukraine, Leisa escaped from Russia as a child and came to Canada in 1930 with her parents. The family settled in Carman in the 1930s and it was there she met and married Jimmy Morrison. They had two sons, Ron and Gary. From 1953 until 1962 she worked at Eaton's in Winnipeg and then Edmonton as Head of the Cosmetic Department. In the early 1960s she moved to Reno, Nevada where she met and married Richard Gerish and lived there until returning to Canada to her home in Carman in 1995. A private family memorial service was held at Friends Church on Sunday, February 24. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the Boyne Park , c/o Boyne Lodge. The family would like to thank the staff at the Boyne Lodge for their wonderful care, Dr. Khusi and nurses at the Carman Memorial Hospital as well as Craig at Doyle's.
