BOLESLAW (BOLEK) WALUK November 8, 1919 - February 22, 2008 Boleslaw passed away peacefully at home, with his wife Monika and his son Jon by his side. Left to mourn Tatus is his devoted wife Monika, his sons, Jon and Edward (Brook). Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Lisa, Tasha and Robert. Also left to mourn him is his sister-in-law Helena, nieces, Ewa, Iwona, nephews, Richard, Alex, Bogdon and Adam, all living in Slupsk, Poland. He was predeceased by his father Leon and mother Julia in Poland and his brother Ed and his nephew Stanislaw Waluk, both in Slupsk, Poland. Special thanks to Pani Sharon Rybuck and Helen Cerasani (Pietkiewicz), who have been a great help to Tatus for the past 20 years. Boleslaw was born on November 8, 1919, in Lebiadach, Poland. He served in the Second World War as a commando / paratrooper. His rank was corporal. He came to Winnipeg, MB, Canada, in 1946 and married his wife Monika on October 23, 1948. This is where he raised his family. He served in the Polish Army then in the British Polish Army and fought in Poland, Germany, Africa, Palestine and Monte Cassino, Italy. Tatus worked for C.N.R. in Fort Rouge / Fort Garry, then at Transcona Symington Yards as a machinist till his retirement in 1983. There wasn't a thing that he couldn't fix. He had a gift with his hands. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Polish Legion, Winnipeg Branch No. 246. There wasn't a weekend that would go by that Tatus wasn't out there fishing with his friends Albert Kananowicz and Ben Pietkiewicz (deceased). He was also predeceased by his good friend Alex Szuk, who he always talked about. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 29, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue. Rosary and viewing one half hour prior to mass. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
