Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES KADAS Chuck Kadas died peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2008, in Winnipeg and he will be well remembered by his loving and dear wife, Isla; sister Shirley; son Robert and his family, extended family Clifford (Lynn), Jennifer and Curtis, and many dear friends. Chuck retired in 1993, and he and his dear Isla were married that year. They subsequently travelled throughout Canada and the United States and enjoyed the fruits of their working lives. Chuck became an active member of the Riverside Lions Club, assuming many roles and responsibilities and continuing to serve the community of Winnipeg which was his home since 1976. He was Lion of the Year in 2000. Watching their grandchildren Jennifer and Curtis growing up had Chuck and Isla running to keep pace and they loved every moment. Chuck was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Chuck was born in Montreal to parents Karoly and Theresa Kadas on December 6, 1930, and grew up with them and his sister Shirley, born three years later. Chuck's working life was in transportation and logistics, first with the CPR in Montreal and then Bradley Air Service in Frobisher Bay. He would end up spending a large part of his life, some 40 years, in Canada's Arctic, working for the civilian companies that operated the Distant Early Warning Line built in the 1950s to protect his family and country. Although he spent a great deal of time in the North, he was proud to be a father to his one son Robert who he had with his first wife Kay in 1964. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will take place at a later date in spring at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Riverside Lions Club. Chuck's family thanks all of the good people of CancerCare Manitoba and the St. Boniface General Hospital for taking care of him these past few months. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted in Chuck's memory to Riverside Lions Charitable Foundation, 188 Worthington Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2M 5K1.
