Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY JEAN BOULTON 1923 2008 Peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2008, Dorothy Jean passed away at Tuxedo Extendicare Nursing Home. Jeannie leaves to mourn her husband Alan of 64 years, sons Douglas (Paula) of Abbottsford, B.C., Donald of Salt Spring Island, B.C., Stephen (Pat) of Winnipeg; sisters Betty Donegani (James), Carol Baird, Cathi Auld (Ken); grandchildren Christa, Karly, Stephen (Marcela), Michael, Luanne (Mike); great-grandchildren Jordan, Kaitlyn and William and many nieces and nephews. Jeannie loved to spend time with her husband, children, grandchildren and sisters. She had many friends, some from the time they were schoolgirls together. All who knew Jeannie loved her dearly. She was a kind, warm and caring person who made an impact on all who knew her. Dorothy Jean was born January 28, 1923 at the General Hospital in Winnipeg and was predeceased by her parents Ada and Karl Slocomb. Jeannie had a zest and passion for life and an endless love of having fun all throughout her life. She married Alan October 29, 1943 in Winnipeg and moved to P.E.I. where they had their first son. After a short period of time in P.E.I., and Alan's service in the Canadian Armed Forces they returned to Winnipeg in 1944. The family have remained faithful residents of Winnipeg's Southend and have spent many wonderful times at their families cottages at Victoria Beach. In 1957 they purchased their own cottage at Star Lake where they have since spent many wonderful seasons with family and friends. Whether it was at their homes or the cottage, friends and family were always welcome and everyone knew that a good time was to be had with lots of laughter, food and fun. Jeannie and Al loved to travel especially when Alan was the Potentate of the Shriner's Northwest Division in 1979. They had many good times with friends and family in Mexico, California, Florida and locations across Canada. On Labour Day weekends for many years, one never knew what character Jeannie might be. While being a supportive wife, mother and grandmother, Jeannie worked as a Real Estate Agent for a period of time and was also a puppeteer for the Junior League. She loved to read, play bridge, do crosswords and was always a great lover of golf at the St. Charles Golf and Country Club and of curling at the Winnipeg Winter Club. We will miss you our dear wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at the Tuxedo Extendicare Nursing Home for the care that they have provided to Jeannie over the past three years. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 29 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, R3C 4G2. Neil Bardal Inc. 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
