MILDRED EDNA PENNER On Tuesday, February 26, Mildred Edna Penner passed away peacefully with family at her side. She was 83 years old and enjoyed a good long life centered on faith and a loving family. Mildred was born in Winnipeg to Julius and Ruth Shellrude in 1924. She grew up in Winnipeg loving music and was an accomplished church pianist. She met and married her beloved husband Bill Penner, with whom she raised five children. They enjoyed 52 years together. After many years of home-making, Mildred returned to work as an administrative assistant at the Grace Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre. Mildred loved her family deeply and enjoyed visiting and cooking for children and grandchildren. Her family loved her quick wit and intelligence. She was a woman of prayer. Together with her husband Bill, she has left a legacy of faith with her family. Mildred is survived by her children, Ruth Peters (Gordon), Sharon Penner (Larry Meyer), Carol Preston (Gordon), Ross Penner (Dawn), Kathryn Penner, and by her grandchildren, Allison McKibbin, Thomas McKibbin, Claire McKibbin, Ken Meyer, Joel Meyer, Stephen Preston, Timothy Preston, Jotham Penner and Matthew Penner. She was predeceased by her husband Will Bernard Penner and her granddaughter, Emily McKibbin. Mildred will be deeply missed by her family. The interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 29 at Chapel Lawn Cemetery. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Anglican Church, 160 Ethelbert Street.
