GURMUKH (WALLY) AHLUWALIA It is with sadness that we announce the death of Gurmukh (Wally) Ahluwalia. After a lengthy illness, he died peacefully with his wife at his side on Tuesday, February 28, 2008 at the age of 70. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diana, his sons Romi and Shaun (Felecia), grandson Jaiden, his mother Basant Kaur; brother Raghubir (Gulshan); his sisters Gurbinder (Kulwant); Gursharan (Avtar); Baljit (Raj); Bholi (Jatinder) and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Balwant Singh Ahluwalia. Wally was born and raised in India. He worked at the All India Institute of Medical Science, and came to Canada in 1962. He continued his education here and received a B.Sc. Degree from the University of Manitoba. He worked for many years at the Cadham Provincial Laboratory from which he retired in 1994. After retirement, he continued to lead an active life, playing tennis and bridge, travelling and socializing with many friends. He was a religious man who regularly attended the Sikh Centre where he acted as treasurer for four years. A funeral service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. to be followed by refreshments. A Sikh ceremony will take place at the Sikh Centre at 500 Dovercourt Drive (off Scurfield Blvd) at 5:00 p.m. to be followed by Langar (supper). The family appreciates the wonderful care and kindness of the staff at Extendicare Tuxedo Villa where he spent his last two years.
