HEDWIG ARNDT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hedy Arndt, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend after a courageous battle with cancer. Hedy passed peacefully at her residence on February 26, 2008 surrounded by her family. Hedy was born March 19, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband Wolfgang Arndt, her parents Wilhelm and Katherine Vielhaber, brother Herbert, sister Mary and many aunts and uncles. Left to mourn her passing are sons, Gregory (Verna Dawn), Robert (Denise), daughter Christa Keating (Paul), grandsons, Geoffrey Arndt (Marie Francis), Ryan Keating, granddaughters, Alana Vannahme (Adrian), Laura Keating; brother William Vielhaber (Elsie), sister Elizabeth Gaerke (Paul), brother-in-law Rainer Arndt (Sharon). Hedy was a devoted and thoughtful mother. Hedy was a fabulous cook and enjoyed entertaining. After many years of raising a family she re-entered the work force and was employed by Manitoba Hydro working at the Springfield Heights sub-station until her retirement. Hedy loved gardening and enjoyed flowers. She worked tirelessly on her yard at home and at the family cottage in Petersfield, Manitoba. Hedy and Wolfgang wintered many times in Texas and Arizona. Funeral services will be held on March 3, Monday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church on Little Britain Road, Monsignor Louis McCloskey officiating. Interment to follow at the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba.
