Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTONY RUDY June 7, 1917 - February 27, 2008 Gigi entered into eternal rest peacefully at the Victoria Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased by his wife Effie in February 1986, his parents and six siblings. To cherish his memory he leaves his son Raymond (Sonia), daughter Cynthia (Frank) Lischynski, grandchildren Dwayne (Kellie) Rudy, Lisa (Shawn) Paluck, Adam (fiancé Lucy Farias) Lischynski and his greatest pride and joy -his great-grandchildren - Alexandra and Nicholas Paluck and the twins Logan and Grayson Rudy, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Gigi was born in Zhoda, MB on the family homestead the fifth of seven siblings. He attended Dover school and assisted on the family farm. In 1942 he joined the Canadian Army were he proudly served in the Pacific, Mediterranean and European theaters. Discharged after service with distinction in 1946. He married Effie Stasiuk on February 2nd, 1947. They built their home, farmed and raised their family in Zhoda until 1966 when they moved to Winnipeg. He retired from Pool Elevators as a millwright in 1982. He remained very active in retirement traveling, assisting in the renovations of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Centre, babysitting his grandchildren, socializing at the Legion, discussing politics, providing advice, and being a part of his family's daily lives. At the age of 86 he moved from his own home to Meadowwood Manor where he truly enjoyed his final years. His legacy is three generations that will remember him for his love of family and friends, his tremendous support and generosity, his great pride in being a Canadian, Catholic and Conservative. We wish to express our deepest gratitude to our family and friends for your assistance and prayers, Father Michael, Howard and Diane and Loren and Debbie, Gigi's former neighbors, the Management and residents at Meadowwood Manor, and the staff of Victoria Hospital for your care and compassion. Funeral Prayers will be held at Green Acres Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy on Tuesday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter Paul Church, 390 Marion St. Officiating will be Gigi's very good friend Rev. Father Michael Winn. Flowers are gratefully declined, if one wishes donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
