SAMUEL (SAM) ELCOCK

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAMUEL (SAM) ELCOCK On Sunday, February 24, 2008, Sam, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 94 years. Remaining to forever cherish Sam's memory are his daughter, Denice Lancaster (Robert) of Winnipeg; daughter-in-law, Judy Elcock of Pinawa, MB; brother, Eric of West Bromich, UK; six grandchildren; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes (nee Craig); son, Richard Elcock; brothers, Edward, Cyril and George; as well as sister, Lilly. Born March 16, 1913 in West Bromich, UK, Sam moved to Canada at an early age where his family farmed in the Rosser area (now King Edward Street). He served with the R.C.A.F. from 1940 1946 in both Canada and Europe. Sam was employed with Canada Bread Co. as a baker until his retirement. Shortly after retiring, he moved to Pinawa, MB where he resided until July 2006. Sam was then a resident of Lions Place, Winnipeg from July 2006 until his failing health necessitated hospitalization in 2007. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Brooklands Weston Branch where he served as president in 1958, 1959 and 1966. Sam enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. In compliance with Sam's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. The family would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre T 7 for their support and loving care of Sam in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sam's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. A very special man who will be missed by his family and friends.
