JACK JOSEPH H. ETHIER February 23, 2008, his favourite time of quiet early morning Jack left us to be with His Lord two months short of his 71st year. Forever grateful for the 53 wonderful years of sharing his love is wife Marlene (nee McColl). Sons, Lionel (Annette), Dale (Donna) Ethier; daughters, Joy Sinnott (Neil), Vicki Hurley (Brian); grandsons, Erik and Thomas Sinnott, Jon and Dylan Ethier, Tim (Lena) Ethier; granddaughters, Brianna and Elleena Hurley and two year old great-granddaughter Ezra Ethier. Also surviving is brother Robert Ethier of Calgary, AB; aunts, Anne McLeod and Jean Penner and uncle Edward Berthelette. Jack took pride into being voted in as a member of his extended family of Icelandic relatives of the Johnson Families . All the kids say he made the Best Porridge in the world. Never tiring as he told them stories of his growing up years. Catering to their many requests from teaching them to drive to playing hide and seek with them into their teenage years. Every one shipped Dad their soup bones, guaranteeing them at least one jar of homemade soup. Jack addressed all females of all ages as Sweetheart , making each one feel special. Jack lived south of what is now Lindsey Street before there were houses built, and walked up the railroad tracks to school. At 12 he did summer harvesting with a local farmer, then going onto delivering milk weekends in a horse drawn wagon. At age 16 he was serving gas and quit school to help out his family. He then returned to being a milkman, real estate sales and his own cleaning company, lastly working 27 years as a Meat Cutter with Burns Foods taking him into his retirement. Our home always open to all, and many we never knew, who enjoyed our pool, in the wee hours of a hot summer's night. Gimli became our retirement home in 2002, where he made instant Bingo and aqua size friends. Through the years, regular getaways to Grand Forks, North Dakota made it our second home. Many more travels followed, Mexico to a cruising to Hawaii, but snowbirding to California and Las Vegas were always a special treat! Jack's whole life centred on his wife and family, and carried on with his grandchildren. He cast a large shadow over us all and memories of him will last us our LIFETIME! His desire is for all who loved him to cherish the Good Times Jack has always wished to help feed the needy, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church so they may help out with this. A Celebration of the life of this remarkable man will take place March 8, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the First Lutheran Church, 580 Victor Street Winnipeg, MB.
