FLORENCE ELIZABETH PALINA INGHAM (nee GEIRHOLM) Peacefully on February 27, 2008 at the Betel Home Gimli, with her niece Francine Albertson at her side, Florence Ingham left us for a better place to join her husband Roy. Auntie Flo was born in Gimli on February 05, 1913, daughter of Sveinn Markusson Geirholm and Ingibjorg Jonsdottir. On May 23, 1937 she married Albert Roy Ingham and they began their married life in Winnipeg. Shortly after that, they moved to Edmonton where Roy was transferred with Westeel. They enjoyed their years there, but were very happy when they were transferred back to Winnipeg, where Uncle Roy bought her the house of her dreams on Waterloo Street. They settled into their home and Flo began a busy life as an executive wife who cooked and cleaned up a storm for their many dinner parties. She was an active member of the Inner Wheel Club, serving in many positions, and also spent many hours volunteering at the Children's Hospital because of her love of children. During their married life they travelled extensively to places such as Japan and Iceland. In 1976 Roy retired and the two of them enjoyed their summers at the cottage in Gimli. After Roy passed on in February, 1997, she continued to live in her home until she moved to Betel in 1999. Auntie Flo is survived by her sister-in-law Florence Ingham of Edmonton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Roy, her brothers Haraldur, Kjartan (Gudny) and Oscar, her in-laws Walter and Mary Ann, brother-in-laws Cyril (Irene), Stan (Florence), sisters-in-law Rose (Julius) and Dorothy (Alec). Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Gimli, Manitoba, with interment to follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews. All those attending are to consider themselves Honorary Pallbearers. Special thanks go to the wonderful staff of Betel, Gimli for their care over the years and as well to Dr. Chapnick and the medical staff. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations in Auntie Flo's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, PO Box 2248 Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
