LINDA LAUREEN WILSON (nee MERENIUK) 1970 - 2008 On Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB Linda Wilson, aged 37 years, of Morden, MB peacefully passed away without pain and with her family by her side. Linda was a teacher at Ecole Morden Middle School. She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband, Mayor Doug Wilson of Morden; her parents, Bernie and Diane Mereniuk of Winnipeg; one brother, Todd and Theresa Mereniuk of Winnipeg. Linda loved everyone, and everyone who met her could feel that they were special in her eyes. She loved Doug. She loved her dogs. She adored every child she ever taught, and she had the ability to reach any child. Whether with children or adults, she had a way of encouraging each person to allow them to be different, to be themselves, to chase their dreams and to not be afraid. Her confidence and great energy no doubt owed much to the adoration and support of her parents, who encouraged her in every way, including the pursuit of a university education and setting clear and simple goals. Even before her first round of illness and remission, Linda lived life with brilliant intensity, with the awareness that every day was a precious thing. She regarded every day as the best day of her life, even when it seemed nothing was going right. In recent months as her illness and treatment progressed, Linda faced her own fears with bravery, focus and a clear plan, despite the great odds against her. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Morden Recreation Centre, 111 Gilmour St. Ash interment to follow at Chapel Cemetery. Doug and the family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and staff at both Health Sciences Centre Ward GD6 and Boundary Trails Health Centre Cancer Unit for their wonderful loving care over these past number of months. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Linda's memory to either Health Sciences Centre Ward GD6 Comfort Care Fund, 820 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1R9 or to Boundary Trails Health Centre Cancer Unit, Box 2000, Winkler, MB R6W 1H8 or to Morden Area Foundation Skateboard Park Fund, 311 North Railway St., Morden, MB R6M 1S9. Every time we hear our phone ring with its special tone, we think of Linda. Her bubbly nature at social gatherings led her to change our ring tone to a cheerier note. This reminds us of her exuberance, her love for the children she taught and her compassion for her friends. We will miss her.
