Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE HOLYK 1916 - 2008 On February 27, 2008, at the age of 92 years, Mom passed away peacefully at the Arborg Personal Care Home. Left to mourn her loss is sister Nellie Sutyla, sons, Paul (Shirley) and Bennie (Loris), grandchildren, Barbara Anne (Dennis), Wyatt (Heather), Maggie (Peter), Mark (Colleen), William (Tammy), Kerry, Audra (Jim), Kyle (Roberta) and 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Anne was predeceased by husband Ben, her parents Wasyl and Maria Hawryszko and brother John. Mom was born February 4, 1916, and grew up in Ledwyn, MB. She married Ben in 1933, moved to Riverton, where she worked as a cook for Bjornson Brothers in Kinwow Bay and then started her career in retail business with Luprypa's. In 1953 she and Dad started Holyk's Store (building a new store in 1962) and continued operating until 1973. Anne moved to Kelowna, BC, in 1974 and worked at the MacLeods store before retiring 1984. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, her flower beds and senior activities at the retirement centre (outdoor shuffling board champ for seven years). Anne returned home with Ben in 2000. Moving to the Arborg Personal Care Home 2001, Mom always had a smile for all visitors. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff of ADPCH for the loving care to mom and dad. Donations can be made to Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers. A memorial service will take place this spring in Riverton. MacKenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
