VELMA HASTMAN March 20, 1915 March 1, 2008 Velma passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1 at the age of 92 years at the Betel Home in Selkirk. Velma will be lovingly remembered by her children, Doreen (Victor) Typliski, Lawrence (Helen) Hastman, Clara (Ed) Saluk, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Wanda, Elsie, Walderine and Hannah, and many nieces, nephews and relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1981, her daughter Eileen in 1990, son-in-law Joe in 2007, her parents, four sisters and four brothers. Mom was a most caring and gentle person. She married dad in 1933 and together they farmed until they moved to Selkirk and retired. After our dad's passing, she loved traveling which she did for many years, until her sight began to fail. Mom's life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. Each one was as special as the next. Mom, you were the greatest mother and we will miss you dearly. The family would like to thank the staff at Betel Home for the wonderful care and love given to our mother. Also, a special thank you to her sister Waldy for always being there for her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 329 Clandeboye Ave, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. Viewing for one hour prior to service. Her pallbearers will be grandsons Ron and Allen Typliski, Tim Hastman, Ross Saluk and Kurtiss Krasnesky and great-grandson Michael Krasnesky. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations can be made to Velma's church or charity of choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
