MILDRED HOHENSTEIN In the early morning of March 1, 2008, our beloved Milly passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Milly was born on July 11, 1914 in Winnipeg and resided here all her life. She was proud of her North-End heritage, and of the strength of its people. She was the cherished aunt of Sandi and Courtney Hill and was very proud to be the recent great-great aunt of baby Ireland. She is also survived by her loyal and dear friend, Roy Buffington, whom she relied on greatly. She is also survived by her nephew, Raymond Schween and family, of Brandon. Milly was baptized and confirmed a Lutheran and for many years was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Milly was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Julianna Schween; her brother Alex; her beloved husband, Bill, and her sister, Alvina. Milly loved life and enjoyed many good times with family and friends. She worked in the Eaton's Accounts office for many years and considered herself a loyal Eatonian to the end. She made many good and true friends while there. Milly was a lifetime member of the Canadian German Society and was involved in the Ladies' Auxiliary for many years. She was also a lifetime member of Club 60 ANAF and served with the Ladies' Auxiliary in various capacities. Through Club 60 and Eaton's she met many people with whom she took numerous Caribbean cruises, European and Hawaiian trips and enjoyed them all. She loved to travel and experience new things. She also belonged to the Eaton's Travel club and took part in many day trips throughout the province. Milly was a generous, loving woman, who only saw the good in everyone she met. She was the person that others turned to in times of need and Milly was always there for all. Milly was a fiercely independent lady who until the age of 90, lived in her own home. At age 90, she moved to her own apartment at the Canadian German Manor, and remained there until her passing. Although the last few years were physically difficult for Milly, she always maintained a positive attitude and never once complained. She was a lady of great poise and dignity. Aunty Milly, know that you were loved and cherished by us all and that life will be that much emptier without you. You were our shining star. Rest in Peace. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. If friends so desire, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
