MORLEY M. GLOBERMAN January 15, 1923 - February 28, 2008 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Morley Globerman on February 28th at the age of 85. Morley was predeceased by his wife, Dintzie, in 1993. He will be sadly missed by his children David (Sidelle), Judy (Clarine) and Danny (Karyn), his siblings Esther Nisenholt, Abraham (Naomi), Nina Chisvin (Allan), his grandchildren Adam, Aaron, Noah and Simmie, his sister-in-law Brindy Wolfson, and his dear friend Kayla Coodin. Morley will also be remembered affectionately by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Irvin Nisenholt, Manuel Thompson, and Joe Wolfson. Morley was born in Pinsk, Poland and immigrated at the age of five to Canada with his parents and sister Esther. At 19 he joined the air force, serving for four years with the RCAF, attaining the rank of Flight Lieutenant. Morley returned from overseas, married his high school sweetheart Dintzie Heifetz and joined the family furniture business, Globerman Bros., Ltd., retiring as Vice-President and general manager of GIII Ltd. in 1986. Although modest of his accomplishments, throughout his career Morley was active in numerous community affairs. Among his undertakings Morley was the founding president of the Manitoba Furniture Manufacturers Association, former president of the Winnipeg Jewish Community Council, chairman of the Combined Jewish Appeal, national vice president of the Western Region Canadian Jewish Congress, vice president and member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, as well as a member of the Boards of the Mount Carmel Clinic, the Manitoba Theatre Centre, and the Better Business Bureau of Winnipeg. Morley retired from business and went on to become an active volunteer consultant with Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) and the Counseling Assistance to Small Enterprises (CASE) program, completing over 80 projects in Canada, the Caribbean, South and Central America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. An eternal optimist, Morley was known for his keen intellect, love of debate and pursuit of excellence. A natural leader and highly principled, his honesty and integrity were widely recognized both personally and professionally. As a family man, Morley enjoyed weekends at the Whiteshell with friends and family, and holiday events with the extended family which he faithfully photographed. Keeping himself current, Morley was computer literate and to his last days was using email and his palm pilot, frequently emailing his CESO clients and his numerous friends and relatives. Morley received excellent care from numerous physicians, particularly Dr. Tony Miller with whom he had a special connection. We especially would like to thank the staff of 4B St. Boniface Hospital and 4 West of Deer Lodge Centre for their compassionate care and dedication to our father. Donations in Morley's memory may be made to the Morley and Dintzie Globerman Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, (204-477-7525).
