ELEANOR RICHARDSON (nee PETKAU) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Eleanor in the Riverview Health Centre on March 5, 2008, at the age of 70, after a brief struggle with cancer. Eleanor was born on April 23, 1937 in Warman, Saskatchewan from a family of 10. She will be survived by her husband Bill, and two sons, Tom (Paula) Richardson, Larry Richardson; two granddaughters, Peyton Richardson and Leah Posaluko; two grandsons, Patrick and Eric Richardson; brother-in-law Halley (Grace) Richardson; brothers, Ben (Maida) Petkau, Ed (Margaret) Petkau, John (Verna) Petkau; sisters, Kate Friesen, Mary Nichols, Hilda (Peter) Remple, Leona Hill, Alvena (Cliff) Jensen, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and all of her friends. Eleanor worked in Rosthern, Saskatchewan in her early years, then worked at the Ninette Sanitarium in 1956/1957 where she met Bill and they were married in 1959. She worked at the Deer Lodge Hospital, then Woolco, Eaton's (downtown) for 17 years and then Churchill High School in the cafeteria for two or three years until her retirement in 2000. The family would like to thank Dr. Wong and all the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care 3rd Floor East Wing for the wonderful care she was given. At her request cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial reception at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. or any CancerCare station.
