PAULINE ESSERS 1916 2008 Peacefully, on February 22, 2008, Pauline Essers passed away at the Sharon Home. She was predeceased by her loving husband Fred, her parents Anne and Solomon Rabinovitch, her devoted sister Rose, brother-in-law Leon Bell, and her niece Nancy Manusow. Left to celebrate her remarkable life are her nephews Hannon and Kenneth Bell and their families. Pauline was born in Russia in 1916 and came to Canada at a very young age. She took great delight in being the family historian, had a vast knowledge of the Jewish faith and traditions, and was always up on world events. She was a kind, loving and unselfish woman who loved her family, enjoyed entertaining and had many life long friends. Pauline was hard working and dedicated and her failing eyesight would not discourage her from enjoying a distinguished career as the editor of the Western Jewish News, a post which she held for over 15 years. Her nephew Hannon was especially close to Aunty Polly and shared a special bond with her since childhood. When his mother Rose passed away in 2005 he assumed Pauline's care visiting her often with his wife Lorraine and making sure she was well cared for. Hannon would like to thank the Sharon Home and the 3rd floor staff for the care they gave Pauline while she was a resident. Everyone at the Sharon Home thought she was an absolute doll! Aunty Polly, I do not mourn you, but celebrate the wonderful person you were and the remarkable life you led. Funeral services were held Monday, February 25 at the Chesed Shel Emes with internment at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery.
