Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHUNG FOO YUEN February 8, 1933 - March 1, 2008 Shung Foo Yuen suddenly passed away Saturday March 1, 2008 at Victoria General Hospital. He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Mak Sou Yuen; son Billy Yuen; son Wing Yuen; as well as his sisters Yue Seem Yuen (predeceased), Kwan Tai Chan, Xin Yue Chen, and numerous relatives. Foo was born in Guangdong (Canton) Province and immigrated to Canada in 1954. He raised his family and worked at the CVM Café in Carberry, Manitoba for several years before arthritis forced him into early retirement. Foo and his family made the move to Winnipeg in 1977. He enjoyed his walks to Winnipeg's China town, reading newspapers, listening to Chinese Opera, and playing mah jong. Foo loved to eat dim sum on the weekends and enjoyed long conversations with family and friends. Foo was an avid local sports fan, especially enjoyed watching the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets on the CBC. Foo suffered a stroke in 2005 taking away his mobility but left his wit and charm intact. The Yuen family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Tuxedo Villa nursing home for the care of Foo. A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway (783-7211) with funeral services at 2:00 pm.
