MARGARET ELEANOR MCWILLIAMS Margaret Eleanor McWilliams passed away on March 1, 2008 in Winnipeg, at age 87. Margaret was born January 11, 1921 in Moose Jaw, SK. She was predeceased by her mother in 1939 and her father in 1960, sisters Helen Headon (1958), Alice Boadway (1961), Ruth Bryant (1966) and brother Edwin McWilliams (1999) and by each of these siblings' spouses. Margaret is survived by her sisters Mary McTavish (Calgary), Wilhelmina (Clare) McBurney (Tsawwassen, BC) and brother Fred (Sonia) McWilliams (Moose Jaw, SK) and the generations of nieces and nephews she loved to brag about. At last count this meant nieces and nephews (16), great nieces and nephews (38) and great-great-nieces and nephews (28). Margaret received her early education and post high school business training in Moose Jaw and worked nine years for the Royal Bank of Canada in Moose Jaw and Winnipeg (Grain Exchange Branch). This employment was interrupted by three years service as a Pay Accountant in the Royal Canadian Air Force (Women's Division) during the Second World War. She then returned to her studies at the University of Manitoba (B. Ed.) and Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois (B. Business Administration) along with a normal school training in Winnipeg which led to a fulfilling teaching career with the Winnipeg School Division No. 1 at Weston Primary School, Churchill High and St. John's High Schools (Business Education Departments). Church association was important to Margaret. She taught Sunday School from an early age in St. Andrew's United Church, Moose Jaw and worked with the Explorer and C.G.I.T. groups including leadership in summer camping in Buena Vista (SK), Brereton and Belair camps in Manitoba. Margaret moved to Winnipeg in 1950 and transferred her membership to Knox United Church where she also took part in the Sunday School, U.C.W. organization, and was appointed Church Elder in 1969. Other volunteer work in Winnipeg included an enjoyable association with the Western Canada Aviation Museum office for fourteen years, helping with the Municipal Hospital Library (Riverview), and bookkeeping in the Chaplains' Office at the International Airport Chapel. Strong family ties were perpetuated as Margaret was always made welcome at the homes of her brother and sisters for holiday times and special events. Travels included trips to the Caribbean, parts of Europe, Great Britain, Alaska and other parts of the United States and across Canada. In accordance with Margaret's wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be in the Family plot, Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw, SK, at a later date.
