Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR MICHAEL HAMEL It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Arthur Michael Hamel at St. Boniface Hospital on March 7, 2008 at 37 years of age. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Eugene Hamel June 6, 1993. Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his fiancée Dawn Larson; daughter Madison and mother Helen Hamel, all of Winnipeg. He is also survived by three brothers, Richard and wife Kim Hamel of Winnipeg, Alan and wife Toni Hamel of Whitby, ON, and Dennis Hamel of Sioux Lookout, ON, along with four sisters, Connie and Iain McIver of Winnipeg, Susan and Lawrence Gale of Sioux Lookout, Cindy and Warren Hobbs, and Debbie and Dean Short of Winnipeg along with numerous nieces and nephews. Arthur will also be greatly missed by Helen and Jerry Larson of Oakbank and Trevor Larson of Winnipeg, who were soon to be his in-laws. Arthur was born April 17, 1970 in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, moving to Melville, Saskatchewan when he was nine years old, with his family, where he later attended high school. Arthur permanently located to Winnipeg where he earned his Diploma in Information Systems Technology and graduated with honours from Red River Community College in December of 2000. He enjoyed his work as a programmer / developer for Qunara Inc, National Leasing and Langui Systems. Art was an avid sports fan who loved to watch professional hockey, football and baseball on TV, as well as taking in Manitoba Moose and Winnipeg Blue Bomber games. He also liked to play poker, video games and the occasional floor-hockey game with friends. He was an extremely proud and loving father and very much looking forward to becoming a husband to Dawn in the spring. We would like to acknowledge the efforts made by Dr. Lee and the nurses in the Cardiology ward along with the medical professionals at St. Boniface Hospital. Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held at Sturgeon Creek United Church at 207 Thompson Drive on Tuesday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations would be appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba in Arthur's name.
