BARRY METCALF ELGERT With family at his side, Barry Elgert passed away very peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2008 in the Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 79 years. He was predeceased by his parents Pearl and Herman Elgert, sister Joyce Sangster and only nephew Daryl Sangster. Barry will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Dolores Elgert of Portage la Prairie, daughter Dawn Davis of Portage la Prairie and granddaughter Hilary; daughter Heather Braund of Calgary with grandsons Tucker and Brady; son Ian (Anita) Elgert of Portage la Prairie with grandchildren Travis, Melissa and Alicia; along with very dear and close cousins and friends. There will be a time of viewing and visitation on Thursday evening, March 13, 2008 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in Trinity United Church led by Rev. Julie Baker. Interment will follow later at Hillside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Barry's memory to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 21 Royal Road S. Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 1T8 or to Lions Prairie Manor Foundation, 24 9th Street SE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4.
