Suddenly on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Portage District General Hospital, the Honorable Clive Miller, beloved husband of Virginia Miller of Portage la Prairie, passed away at the age of 79 years. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Mary's la Prairie Anglican Church with the Venerable Norman Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Clive was born in Portage la Prairie on March 31, 1928 to Calvert and Norma Miller. He attended school in Portage la Prairie and graduated from Portage Collegiate Institute. In 1952, he graduated from U.B.C. law school and then worked in Vancouver for the CN Rail legal Department. In 1962, he joined the law firm Miller, Miller and Miller in Portage la Prairie. In 1979, he was appointed to the position of Judge in the Court of Queen's Bench and retired in 1991. Clive was a member of the Portage la Prairie School Board, councilor of the City of Portage la Prairie, former president of the Portage Rotary Club and served on the Board for Service for Seniors. Clive's family was the most important thing to him. He attended most of his children's functions and was very supportive of his wife's endeavors. He loved Delta Beach and life at the cottage. He was an enthusiastic member of the Portage Curling Club and Portage Golf Club, and enjoyed other various sports. He enjoyed traveling to various places like England, Mexico, and the Orient. Predeceased by his parents; son, Calvert; brother, Bruce. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Virginia; children Drew (Allyson) of Winnipeg, Leigh of Vancouver, and Ross (Linda) of Halifax; daughter-in-law Yvonne of England; nine grandchildren: Delaney, Jordan, Grant, Kara, Alanna, Alexandra, Charles, Alice and James; one sister Linda (Bill) Martin of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law; Beverley O'Brian of Vancouver, BC and Bernie Miller of Portage, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
