FERNANDA A. SOARES On March 11, 2008 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Fernanda Soares passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband of more than 60 years, Jose. Fernanda will be sadly missed by her sons, Tomas (Adriana), Jose (Alcina), Carlos (Helena) and Fernando (Emiko Cooper); daughter Fatima (Terry Lumb); 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Fernanda was born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores and came to Canada in 1974 with her husband. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted much of her time and energy to her family and friends. Fernanda radiated a zest for life, was personable, determined and caring, and was faithful to her beliefs and values. Special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph's Residence and Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care and compassion. Prayers will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. with Very Rev. Fr. José Eduardo Medeiros, V.F. officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Fernanda's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
