Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE EDWARD (TED) LOWE 1917 2008 Ted passed away quietly at the MacGregor Care Home on March 12, 2008 at the age of 90 years. He was born on November 16, 1917, the eldest son of the late George and Greta Lowe. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Francis Christina Acutt, in 1991; brother Glen Lowe and sister Beth Anderson. Left to mourn his passing are his seven children, Greta (Jim), Montie (Geri), Gilbert (Leona), Anne (Ken), Bernard (Leslie), Wallace, Barry (Rose); grandchildren, Joelle (Duncan), Carmen (Rob), Monica, Graeme, Duane, Maija (Rastko), Coralee (Pasquale), Nadine (Jordan), Kevin (Erin); great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Shannon, Alysha, Tianna, Luka, Kiara, Samantha, Connar, Makayla, Mackenzie and Faith; brothers, Bob, Roger (Norma) and Jim (Shirley); sisters, Rae (Allan), Pearl, Rosemary, Gail (Gary); stepmother Mary Lowe; brother-in-law Tom Acutt; great-aunt Connie Bryce; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. After growing up in the Springbrook area Ted and Francis were married and farmed for a short time in the Edrans area before moving to Austin where he drove a stock truck to and from Winnipeg. In 1943, Ted and Francis began farming in the Springbrook area where they raised their seven children. During this time he held numerous jobs while continuing to farm. He had fond memories of working at carpentry. Before leaving the farm in 1969 Ted became a Portage Co-op truck driver delivering fuel to the local area surrounding MacGregor and Austin. After leaving the farm he spent a short time with the Brandon Co-op before returning to the Portage Co-op until his retirement. Throughout the years Ted had many interests, including his travels with Francis and helping his children. He spent years being involved in the Austin United and MacGregor United Churches and their respective choirs. Music was his love and from that he joined the Harmonica Band in Portage. Funeral service will be held in the MacGregor United Church on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Quentin Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in MacGregor Cemetery.
