CALVIN BERNARD SMITH Peacefully, with his family at his side, Cal passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, March 10, 2008 at the age of 63. Cal will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joyce, daughter Cristy and son Cory; sister Florence Kirby, brother Jim (Barb), sister-in-law Helen and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Ben and Emma, brother Len and sister Edith Nicholson. Cal was born April 21, 1944 in Winnipeg and grew up in the Elmwood area. He met Joyce in 1973 and they were married in March of 1975. In 1980 they moved with their family out to the Springfield area. He was employed with CIMCO as a refrigeration mechanic for the past 28 years. Cal had a passion for curling and spent numerous years perfecting his skills at the Elmwood Curling Club. Cal also loved spending time at the cabin, going fishing and taking the kids out for a ride on the lake. He never hesitated to help family or friends in need. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Fire Fighters Burn Fund.
