Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA HOLEWKA Wednesday morning, March 12, 2008, at Holy Family Nursing Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Olga Holewka, went to her eternal rest, at the age of 89 years. Olga was born in Winnipeg on June 26, 1918, to Joseph and Anna Holewka (nee Truss), and resided in the family home into her senior years. Her membership at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral was a significant influence in her life, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, as well as other church activities. Olga was a devoted daughter and sister, and later Auntie to her niece and nephew, and grand nieces and nephews upon their arrival into the family. She showered all of us with her love, her traditional Ukrainian cooking, sweet cherry cider, and countless surprises for every special occasion. Olga's career was in women's fashion, and she worked as Store Manager at The Original Shop , on Selkirk Avenue for many years. She is remembered by some of her customers as one who enjoyed a good visit while providing good customer service, which included selecting the perfect outfit complete with jewellery to complement the look. Her flair for fashion and generous gift giving habits served to expand the wardrobes of family members and friends, young and old alike, through the years. Olga was predeceased by an elder sister in early childhood, her parents, her sister Stephanie, and her brother Paul. Olga leaves to mourn her passing, her sister Gladys, a resident of Holy Family Nursing Home, her sister-in-law Mary Holewka, Godson Basil and wife Marlene Holewka of Morden, and their children, Jennifer of Toronto, and Michael of New York City; niece Jo Ann and husband Walter Skakun of Winnipeg; and their children, Wally (Karen), Danial (Stephanie), Kathy (Sam Romaniuk), along with eight great-grand nieces and nephews, all of Winnipeg, as well as cousins Bernice (Bob Coffey), Mildred (Leon Feduniw), and their families. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 17, 2008, at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St., with Rt. Reverend Msgr. Mitrat Michael Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral Renovation Fund. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank June Moore and all the staff of Holy Family Nursing Home for the compassionate care provided to Olga and to the family. VICHNAYA PAMYAT, Rest in Peace.
