MARJORIE TRYPHENA ALICE STEWART (nee BROWN) It is with great sadness we announce the sudden loss of our dearest and most beloved Mom and best friend on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the age of 83, surrounded by family that loved and cherished her. Born in Elbow, Saskatchewan on June 30, 1924, she came to Manitoba as a young girl and lived on a farm outside of Dugald, MB. She was predeceased by her husband Neil David Stewart who passed away in 1979; brothers, Ralph, Marvin and Henry; sisters, Bernice, Norma and Audrey; son-in-law Mitchell Murray. Left to cherish her memory is one brother Alfred (Sonny) and three sisters, Mildred, Violet, Pearl; sister-in-law Isabel Stewart, George Baker; her loving soulmate of 28 years; four sons, Wayne (Cheryl), Marvin, Ken (Miki), Lionel (Kathy) and six daughters, Karen (Johnny) Sharon, Mavis, Deena (Randy), Debbie (Lyle) and Terry (Glenn); 27 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Mom worked as Manageress with Curtis Gordon Hotel, then as a Supervisor at Zellers Canada for many years, until her retirement in 1980, whereupon she then moved to Elm Creek, MB to enjoy many years with George travelling, camping, bus tours to various Casinos in Canada and the USA. She also kept busy in her spare time holding various Executive Positions at the Elm Creek Legion Branch. Mom had a exceptional talent for knitting and crocheting, especially for all the newborns in the family and various friends. She was what one would call a multi tasker, knit, crochet, watch television and carry on an enlightening conversation, without dropping a stitch. She will be remembered by all whoever had the pleasure of knowing her for her generosity and always making you feel welcome whenever you dropped in to see her. Her first words were always are you hungry and what would you like to eat and drink . She raised her children with the best of values and was always there when anyone needed a shoulder to cry on and words of encouragement and support, no matter how trivial the matter, everyone was important to her. She always found the good in people and made their shortcomings be overshadowed with goodness and understanding. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the dedicated staff of the Health Sciences Centre, Wing GH3, for their tender care, and also the SICU, for their compassion and exemplary care during Mom's last hours. Honourary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kelly Stewart, David Stewart, Stephen Stewart, Amanda Claeys, Michael Zest, Alan Stewart, Doug McConnell, Derek Ray, Adam McIntosh, Kyle Briggs. Friends may pay their respects at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. A memorial service of Mom's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. Donations in Marjorie's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7, Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8, or Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Our sincere sympathy to the entire family. We will miss the Stewart family reunions that Aunt Marj so capably organized, where everyone always felt at home and of course the food was always great. It was always a pleasure to drive past their home in Elm Creek and see the lovely flowers and hanging baskets in the yard. When you carry the memory of your loved one in your heart you shall never be truly separated. Lyall, Judie and family - Posted by: Judie Owen (Family) on: Mar 17, 2008

  • Thank you Grandma for teaching us the importance of family and showing us what it truly means to have an open heart. I will miss your spectacular roasted goose with black currant stuffing and the knitted wash cloths every year, but most of all I will miss your warm hugs and your gentle smile. You will be greatly missed and always lovingly remembered. Melainie - Posted by: MELAINIE STEWART (Family) on: Mar 16, 2008
