DOROTHY ALICE RHEUBOTTOM (nee WRIGHT) We announce with complete sadness the passing of our loving wife, mother, nana, aunt and friend to all on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Dorothy passed away peacefully at Grace Hospital with her family at her side. Dorothy leaves to mourn her husband of 59 years Chuck; her children, Doug (Barb) of Cooks Creek, Cyndi, Kevin (Darcy), Candace of Winnipeg and Karen (Phil) of Diamondhead, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Tara (Ryan), Kristi, Richele, Codi, Nathaniel, Allan, Tanner and Jolene; great-grandchildren, Jaedyn, Caiden and Jack. She will be missed by her brothers, Sonny, Bud, Wilfred (Verna) all of Fisherton, Manitoba her sisters, Frances (Ray) of Birds Hill, Manitoba, Eileen (Hugh) of Richer, Manitoba and sister-in-law Joyce of Dallas, Texas as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, James and Christine Wright; her brother John and sister Mabel; brother-in-law Phil; sister-in-law Pat; nephews, Jim, Terry and niece Serena. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg and moved at an early age with her family to Fisherton, Manitoba, a place where her heart remained and where she always considered to be home. She returned to Winnipeg during the Second World War where she remained to marry and raise her family. She was always very proud of her family heritage and the part they played in local history. Her grandfather, Archibald Wright was elected to Winnipeg's first city council in the late 1800's and her other grandfather, William Hallett served as chief scout for the North West Mounted Police as they made their way west to what is now the city of Calgary. The annual Lilac Tea honoring Mary Wright, her grandmother, has been held annually at the St. James Anglican Church since the early 1900's. Dorothy, her daughters, sisters and nieces have been honored at this tea on several occasions. Dorothy will always be remembered as a kind, gentle and humble person who devoted her entire life to loving her family and friends. The door of her home was always open to all. She was always concerned with serving the needs of others. Dorothy's first passion in life was spending time with her grand children. She was a very caring and loving nana to them all. Her other passion was playing her beloved bingo with her family and close friends. She never met a bingo game she didn't like. She also loved visiting and traveling with her sister Eileen. Our family would like to thank the 3 North staff at Grace Hospital for their care and compassion during our mother's time in the hospital. We would also like to extend a special thanks to our aunts Frances and Eileen, uncle Hugh, cousins Cheryl, Kim and Shelley for their special support over the last trying days and cousin Richard Wright for his special help in Fisherton. We'll always remember your kindness. We love you Nana. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, Winnipeg, Interment to follow at St. John's Anglican Church, Fisherton, Manitoba.
