JOHN DAVID DERKSEN 1935 - 2008 Peacefully on March 15, with his loving family at his side, John passed away and went home to be with his Father. He was a strong man of faith and an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rosaline (Rose) (nee Voth); daughter Judi (Gordon); sons, Grant (Jennifer), Gerry (Karen), and grandchildren, Katharine, Jillayne, and Marshall. He is survived by five sisters and one half-brother; his mother-in-law Marie Voth, extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Katharina; two brothers, three half-sisters, and one half-brother. John was born in Roseisle, MB in 1935. He joined the Imperial Bank of Canada (later CIBC) in 1954 and served as bank manager in several local communities. John and Rose were married in 1961 and lived in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Steinbach, Altona, and Winkler. They returned to Winnipeg when John retired in 1990. John enjoyed traveling, curling, golfing, crosswords, and puzzles. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at St. Boniface ICU and 5B for their compassionate and excellent care. Viewing will be at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd. Winnipeg, Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
