Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE (GERTIE) JESSIE WHALEN (nee JACKSON) July 7, 1921 March 15, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Gertrude Jessie Whalen (nee Jackson) of Treherne, MB on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Tiger Hills Personal Care Home, Treherne, MB at the age of 86 years, beloved wife of Stanley Whalen. Gertie was born to Alexander and Gertrude Jackson on July 7, 1921. On March 10, 2008 Gertie and Stan celebrated 66 years of marriage. Gertie and Stan lived all of their lives in Treherne, both on the farm and in town. Gertie leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memory, her beloved husband Stanley Whalen; two daughters, Lynda (Vince) Doucet and Kathleen (David) Hennessey; three sons, Garry (Marion) Whalen, Ronald (Darlene) Whalen and Gordon (Lisa) Whalen; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kelly (Lorna) Jackson; one sister, Lillian (Albert) Woodward; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Jackson, Nora Robertson and Edna Jackson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter in infancy, Faye Anne Whalen; son-in-law, Morley English; parents, Alexander and Gertrude Jackson; brothers, James, Arthur (Iris), Irvin, Archie (Ellen), Duncan and Miles (Nellie); sister, Lola (Douglas) Robertson and by two brothers-in-law, Merton Robertson and Laurie Whalen. Funeral Service will be held from the Treherne United Church, Treherne, MB on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Treherne, MB. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Gertie's memory to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba, Unit 10, Mezzanine, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2.
