MARIO JOAQUIM PEREIRA Peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2008 our dear father Mario Joaquim Pereira passed away at the age of 73. Left to cherish his memories is his beloved wife Julia of 46 years; children, Helena (Aderito), Mario (Sheila); grandchildren, Kayla, Bryan, Christopher, Alexandra, and Nicholas. Also left to mourn are his brothers, Diamantino (Elvira), Leonardo; sisters, Amabelina (Fernando), Aurora (Jose); nieces and nephews in Winnipeg, Montreal QC, Kitimat BC, Vancouver and Portugal. Predeceased by his parents, Joao Pedro Pereira and Maria Jesus Nobre; parents-in-law, Reinaldo Barros, Melitina Viana, sisters Vergina, Carminda (Luis), brother Arestides (Lucrecia) and sister in-law Maria Jose. Daddy was a hard worker and prided himself in performing any work to the best of his abilities. He immigrated to Canada in 1958, worked in the mining industry, later in construction and for Versatile up until retirement. He was admired by all his employers and fellow colleagues. He was passionate about returning to Portugal annually for the past 20 years to visit his native land, family and friends. We were fortunate to enjoy one last holiday together in Portugal last summer. He was also an avid soccer fan and thoroughly enjoyed every game he could catch, especially Benfica. Amongst these passions, his grandchildren were very dear to his heart. His love for them was obvious in his eyes and smile. Daddy was very proud of his family, humble, personable, respectful and took pride in being punctual at all times. Amongst these attributes he also demonstrated enormous courage and strength throughout his life especially in his last couple of years of illness. Dad you are a hero in our eyes. Although you will not be with us in body, your spirit will linger in our hearts for eternity. Papa Descanse em Paz We would like to thank all the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion. Thank you also for all the prayers and support we received from our family and friends. Prayers will be said at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church 181 Austin Street N. with Very Rev.
