SYBIL BARNETT April 25, 1915 March 13, 2008 Peacefully, at Meadowood Manor, Winnipeg, Sybil Barnett formerly of Portage la Prairie, passed away. She was born at Port Arthur, Ontario and lived in NW Ontario for her early years. Her first husband, Earl MacDougall, was a prospector in the Birch Lake area. After his death she moved to Winnipeg with their son Don. She later moved to Portage la Prairie and married Pete Barnett, who predeceased her in 1975. She was one of five sisters and one brother. Predeceased by her sisters, Eunice, Muriel and brother Leslie, she leaves her son Don (Irene) of Minnesota; daughter Barbara of Winnipeg and son Bill of Portage, as well as eight grandchildren. She is survived by sisters, Iris of Thunder Bay, and Ethel of Winnipeg. At her request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Catherine Newham-Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 1A7.
